A.
Tryout fees are non refundable.

Q?
How Many Teams Will There Be?
-
A.
We currently have enough athletes and coaches to potentially field 2 teams for each age category. However how many teams we have going forward into the 2024 season all depends on the caliber of athlete and how hard they wish to work. We are a high performance based club and choose our teams based on Volleyball Canada's High Performance model. With that being said we also have a strong belief in and understanding of how to develop athletes who want to learn to compete at a high level.

Q?
What Position Will I Play?
-
A.
This all depends on the team dynamic and of course what position best suits the athlete.
The best position for you will be the position that you are already suited for depending on your athletic skills, your height, and your speed. As you progress in volleyball and you've learned the basic volleyball skills, you'll find that you're naturally better at some skills than others.
Positions can change for new athletes as the season goes on, especially for those in the younger age groups who are used to the "Grade 7/8 rotate into the 6 spot" scenarios.
Positions are usually figured out within the first few weeks of practice.
We have had many situations where an athlete is set on being an outside hitter only to find that offside works best. Or those who wanted to be a setter found that offside was the place to be.Have no fear, we will find the best position that suits both the athlete and team.

Q?
Who are the Coaches?
-
A.
Each team will have one head coach and one assistant / helper. We currently have 9 more than qualified head coaches on staff who will be placed on their respective teams based on the needs of our athletes. We will update our coaches bio page in the coming days. Head coaches will of course be on hand at the tryouts and will be introduced at the beginning of each tryout so each athlete can get to know who they may be playing for.

Q?
Where Does +Energy Practice?
-
A.
+Energy Volleyball Club is lucky enough to have two indoor practice gyms available in Kelowna for the 2024 season.
Central Sports Club (Indoor - Downtown Kelowna)
Quigley School (Indoor - Rutland)
Immaculata Regional High School (Indoor - Kelowna)
St Joseph's Elementary School (Indoor - Kelowna)City Park (Beach - Kelowna)
We are currently negotiating the acquisition of more gym space for our rapidly expanding club. Once we have our complete list of facilities secured for the 2025 season we will then determine what facility works best for each team. -
Q?
Playing Up?
-
A.
Our philosophy in order to build an elite athlete (A LEADER) means that we will only play a player up an age category if that player would be a starting 6-7 player in the older age category. We believe that there is no solid benefit in having a younger athlete play up on a team where they may spend most of the time on the bench only to stunt their athletic growth.
More in depth discussions can take place between the parents and coach after tryouts and of course before team selection.Learn more about this sensitive topic from a writer at TEAMSNAP by clicking here.

Q?
When are the Practices?
-
A.
Generally speaking we have 2-3 practices a week. Once we solidify how many teams we have for each age group we will then be able to create a schedule based on Coach and Athlete Availability.
Our club is well known for being open and able to work well with those athletes who play other sports and activities. -
Q?
Do you offer Clinics & Camps?
-
A.
+Energy is a not for profit club. Our sole purpose is to offer a high energy positive environment for dedicated athletes that want to explore and develop their full potential in volleyball. As a result of this mission throughout the season we will offer a few extra clinics or camps. Here at +Energy we like to call them "extra /additional practices" which are included as a member of +Energy.
