The West Kelowna Jumpstart™ chapter assists in removing financial barriers that hinder participation in sports and recreational activities.
Grants are provided to families that meet Jumpstart's assistance criteria, which recommend using Revenue Canada's Low Income Cut Offs (LICOs) as the guidepost for determining need. LICOs take into account family and community sizes and family units' before tax incomes.
The criteria to apply to Jumpstart™ are:
- Children and youth must be between ages 4 and 18
- Funding can cover registration fees, equipment costs or transportation costs
- Physical fitness must be a component of the eligible sports or activities
- Activities must be sustained over at least five weeks or run for five consecutive days
- Teams are ineligible to apply
- Up to $300 may be provided per application, to a maximum of $600 per child, per year
- Applications must be completed before fees are due as money is provided directly to the organization
- Applications can be submitted starting in January and closes when the funders have been depleted for the year; with funding to be equitably distributed over Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter activities

At Athletics4Kids, we believe that every child should have the chance to play. Through our Sport4Life Grant Program, we provide grants to families to cover sport registration fees. The average grant we provide is $200 per sport.
Our goal is to ensure that kids between the ages of 5-18 are able to play and participate in sports. Whether that's swimming lessons at the rec center, community lacrosse, or joining a gymnastics club, we provide financial assistance to help low-income families cover registration fees for over 55 non-school-based amateur sports.
